“The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. The LORD will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.” Psalm 34-19-22
We may seem to have more problems than our neighbor or way may more than we think that we deserve. He will deliver us; His promise to you, me and the child in Haiti. He will rescue us, we are saved.
The final two verses of “Awake my Soul, and with the Sun” written by Thomas Ken provide a wonderful closing and reminder of His presence in our lives and to whom all praise needs to be directed, not to this world but to Him. It is ironic as the final verse has been used for centuries as the Doxology. Mr. Ken requested that this hymn was as his funeral which was held at sunrise.
“I would not wake nor rise again and Heaven itself I would disdain, wert Thou not there to be enjoyed and I in hymns to be employed. Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.”
Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
May God be with you…Jay
