Prayer guide for February 2019

We begin our prayer time in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. + Amen.

Adoration’

Revelation 5:8-14; “And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb.  Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.  And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.  You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”  Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand.  They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.  In a loud voice they were saying:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”  Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”  The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.”

As you sit reading this, please understand that the cold of winter is upon some of us and we brace ourselves for what the weather will be like tomorrow.  There will always be a tomorrow, as that is how He planned it.  Tomorrow here on this earthly side or tomorrow at our permanent home in Heaven; He is always daily providing for our well-being here and has prepared a place for us in His home on the ‘other side’ of here.  Just sit for a moment and consider those verses from Revelation and how very important you are to Him.

A time of ‘Adoration’ to our Heavenly Father.

  • Please take time to sit and consider how our Triune God comes to us through His ‘WORD’ every day and how He has impacted your life.

  • Think about the provisions, protection and love that surrounds you because of His unfailing love for you..

  • Give thanks for where God has placed you and the gifts that you were given to use for Him along your journey.

 ‘Confession’

Psalm 32:5; “Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.  I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”  And you forgave the guilt of my sin.”

We were born, sinful and unclean, through no fault of our own, but because of the sins of our parents, grandparents…Adam and Eve.

God sent His only Son to die for our sins. Jesus did everything right while he was here on this earth. He loves you with a love that cannot be measured.  He gave to the world when no thanks were returned to Him.  He healed when there was no hope, and He died without complaint.  Jesus did nothing wrong and everything right; all this for you.  He lived for you and died for you.  Our sins nailed Him to the cross on Calvary and kept Him there until His life on earth had ended.

  • A time of personal confession.

John 3:16-17, 36; “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.

Our sins are placed at the base of the cross...His cross, and we give thanks that the times we have fallen short in the eyes of our Heavenly Father have been washed clean and we have been forgiven through the Blood of our Risen Savior Jesus Christ.

 ‘Thanksgiving’

Where do we begin to give thanks?  So great are the blessings that our Heavenly Father has poured into our lives and continues to daily shower upon us.

Psalm 118:1-18; “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.  Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.”  Let the house of Aaron say: “His love endures forever.”  Let those who fear the Lord say: “His love endures forever.”  When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place.  The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.  What can mere mortals do to me?  The Lord is with me; he is my helper.  I look in triumph on my enemies.  It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.  It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.  All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.  They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.  They swarmed around me like bees, but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the Lord I cut them down.  I was pushed back and about to fall, but the Lord helped me.  The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.  Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!  The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”  I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done.  The Lord has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death.”

Using your mind and fingers, please just take a moment to do a mental inventory of just your kitchen and pantry and count them; finger by finger; item by item.  Is there an empty shelf to be found?  While being given a ‘tour’ of many rural homes in Haiti that question would have been; are there any shelves in the cupboards with food?

We ‘overlook’ God’s providence in our lives each and every day.  Take just moment to give thanks for what we have today, what was left from yesterday and what will be coming tomorrow.

Heavenly Father, we come to You now with hearts, minds and words filled with ‘Thanksgiving’.”

  • We give thanks for our Creator, Redeemer and Holy Spirit.

  • We give thanks for having a Savior.

  • We give thanks our providence; monetary, food, clothing and shelter.  As we give of our first fruits may we also give a portion of our best to His children who need the assistance we can provide.

  • We give You thanks for the Haitian children who are not only the prime purpose of Trinity/HOPE but also Your missionaries for the future generations in Haiti who bring the true message of Christmas to lives who have never known.

  • We give You thanks for the work that is being accomplished by the Haitian parents, teachers, school principals and Feeding Program Directors who are shaping the lives of young Haitian children this school year.

  • We give you thanks for the six new schools being added this month and the 1,000 new children who will be eating a meal while drawing closer to Jesus.

 ‘Supplications’

Our Triune God created everything for us to use for His Glory and we continue to daily receive from His Hand; meeting our needs and sharing with others who are living in challenging times; taking His Light into the darkness of their neighborhoods.  We fulfil His purpose for our lives by seeking to help others bring the Salvation message to the lost in this world.

Romans 10:1; “Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.”

Heavenly Father, we bring our supplications before You;

  • Heavenly Father, please continue to lead and bless Trinity/HOPE with Your loving hand; may we always strive to accomplish Your will.

  • Almighty Lord, please bring peace to the unrest in Haiti.  Cease the causes that are brining about rising inflation.  May the Holy Spirit bring Haitian eyes to turn to You and away from vodou.

  • Bless the workers here in the U.S. and in Haiti and give them courage as they daily face challenges from the evil foe.  Provide them with courage, endurance and love.

  • Heavenly Father, please bless new donors unknown to us but who are out there ready to help to feed Haitian children through the Matthew 25 Project.

Lord God, bless Your Word wherever it is proclaimed.  Make it a Word of power and peace to convert those not yet Your own and to confirm those who have come to saving faith.  May Your Word pass from the ear to the heart, from the heart to the lip and from the lip to the life that, as You have promised, Your Word may achieve the purpose for which You sent it; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.

2 Corinthians 13:11-14; “Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.  Greet one another with a holy kiss.  All the saints send their greetings.  May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

May God go before you to guide you; may His arms be beneath you to support you, around you to protect you and above you to bless you.  And may the blessings of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit be with you always dear sister and brother in Christ,

In His love,

Jay Brinkmeyer
