“Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little.” Edmund Burke 1729-1797
I’m reading three books at a time now; because I can. I’m in various locations of Love Does by Bob Goff, Code of Honor by Tom Clancy and Crash the Chatterbox by Steven Furtick. The above quote from Edmund Burke jumped out from the pages of Code of Honor yesterday and what a snippet of wisdom that has been for me; it won’t set my mind free until I tell somebody about it. Following the encouragement from my Bird Story a week ago, I need to Say Something.
In the attached photo a little Haitian baby is being baptized; one more small voice for the Kingdom. A small insignificant voice? In the world’s view, probably, but in God’s plans this child may be a future pastor, teacher or Christian legislator in Haiti. I seem to recall that this photo was taken on a trip in 2014 and now that child is 5 and in school at Bon Berger and is learning about the birth of Jesus and having a Trinity/HOPE meal today. That meal for that one little child will cost one quarter. God has a plan for this child and also for you. You can be a part of His plan for this child with a quarter and a prayer. You can do so very much with so little. I close with the words from the song ‘Oh Holy Night’ what was written by Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure in 1877.
“Oh holy night! The stars are brightly shining, it is the night of the dear Savior's birth! Long lay the world in sin and error pining till he appear'd and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn! Fall on your knees; Oh hear the angel voices. Oh night divine, Oh night when Christ was born. Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming with glowing hearts by His cradle we stand so led by light of a star sweetly gleaming. Here come the wise men from Orient land; the King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger in all our trials born to be our friend. Truly He taught us to love one another. His law is love and His gospel is peace. Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother and in His name all oppression shall cease. Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, let all within us praise His holy name. Fall on your knees; Oh hear the angel voices. Oh night divine, Oh night when Christ was born.”
Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
May God be with you…Jay ~
