Our journey; who knew.

“I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love.  To them I was like one who lifts a little child to the cheek, and I bent down to feed them.” Hosea 11:4

Who knew; how many of us really knew what our life journey would be like?  When I was a young man working in highway construction there were times when paths that I selected ultimately separated me from God.  He continued to pursue me while I was seemingly happily sloshing in the mud on these tangled trails that satan provided for me, encouraging me to those areas that were a ‘sure thing’ when seeking adventure in a sinful world.

Who knew?  He did not give up on me and He did not give up on you or the children in Haiti.  He did not write me off as a lost sheep that was unable to stay in the fold.  He did not despise, reject or abandon me.  It is humbling to consider how our Heavenly Father followed each of us through the dark paths upon which we have walked, worked and wasted away.

Imagine today, what it would be like to have $20 in your pocket but you couldn’t put gas in your car because the gas station had none to sell.  Imagine that your house had no water and you took your $20 and walked a few miles to purchase a five-gallon jug of Culligan water but there was none as the delivery truck had no fuel.  Imagine that you walked to the local store to purchase $20 of food for you family, but the store was closed as there was no food.  Your money is worthless.  That is what life is like for many who are living in Haiti today.  Who knew?

Only our Savior Jesus Christ could possibly care enough for you, me and the children in Haiti to bring us to Himself.  Just as our Good Shepherd brought us back into His fold, He feeds each of us.  Who knew that our Heavenly Father would have brought you here today, to help in the process of feeding His sheep in Haiti?  Who knew?  The internet radio just completed playing a song by Randy Travis titled ‘I am going’ and I hope that its words will inspire your thoughts today as you go out and walk down your life’s journey.

“I am going where I've never been.  I am going where there's no sin.  There I will join my Lord and my friends; yes I am going where I've never been. Don't be crying those bitter tears; don't be crying 'cause I'm not here.  I'll be happy the first time in years, so don't be crying those bitter tears.  I have travelled life's weary highways and my last journey is at hand.  I can hear the angels calling and I am going where I've never been.”

Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

May God be with you…Jay
