“On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine; the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” Isaiah 25:6-9
One of my favorite liturgical songs is “This is the Feast” and every day should be a ‘victory’ for our Lord! The young girl in the attached photo is sitting on a Haitian chair in Cap Haitian and has a feast resting in her lap and that is a victory for our Lord! You can tell that this is a true feast by the sparkle in her eyes and look of anticipation as she awaits a spoon to compliment her manna.
As we awake in the morning, witness the sun rising, let us also give thanks for the victory of our Lord and the feast that awaits us each and every day, and the feast that we will realize in Heaven with this child one day.
“This is the feast of victory for our God. For the Lamb Who was slain has begun His reign: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Worthy is Christ, the Lamb who was slain, whose blood set us free to be people of God. Power, riches, wisdom, and strength, and honor, blessing, and glory are his. This is the feast of victory for our God. Sing with all the people of God, and join in the hymn of all creation. This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia!”
Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
