“The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin. The word of the Lord came to him in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, and through the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, down to the fifth month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile. The word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:1-5
Today there will be an eclipse of the sun and some scientists and astronomers will proudly proclaim that “they” were the voices to announce this event. The Creator of this Universe set everything in the solar system into motion before any of ‘their’ lineage breathed their initial breath. There are vodou priests in Haiti who will say this was caused by ‘their’ power and people in their neighborhood should always remember just how much power they possess. The media outlets of this planet will take off some time and turn their attention from the violence, politics and pointing of fingers at one another to watch this ‘event’ that doesn’t happen very often and it’s doubtful that any mention of our Heavenly Creator will be brought to our ears. May this eclipse remind us all of how blessed we are to be children of the Most High God; I AM.
“Though mountains slide into the sea, and waters rush where fields should be, though monuments and nations fall; Your holy city stands through all. When nothing seems to stay the same, You teach us your eternal name. I AM forever WHO I AM. Above you, beneath you, around you and within you; be still and know that I am God.”
Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
May God be with you…Jay
