Haitian Mange

“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!  “Who has known the mind of the Lord?  Or who has been his counselor?”  “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?”  For from him and through him and for him are all things.  To him be the glory forever! Amen.” Romans 11:33-36

Frequently, well-meaning people will ask “what can we do to help feed those kids in Haiti?  Can we send them boxes or bags of food?”  Trinity/HOPE can feed a child for a quarter with food purchased locally in Haiti; ain’t God good!  The attached photo is of Keith Logan visiting one of the food vendors in Jacmel and this is look at some of the produce for sale.  Many of the vendors are located in a dark warehouse and this appears to be one of the nicer places that I have seen.  Another point to consider is that Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and if food bypasses vendors such as this man the country will never begin to stand on it’s own.  Desiring to feed children attending Christian schools in Haiti and helping that country economically have always been our goal and one day on this side of Heaven we pray that we will see the schools in Haiti in total control of their feeding programs; ain’t God good!  I am closing today with the words from the hymn ‘Beloved, 'It Is Well!' that were written by George W. Doane in 1833.

“Beloved, "It is well!"  God's ways are always right, and perfect love is o'er them all though far above our sight.  Beloved, "It is well!"  Though deep and sore the smart, the hand that wounds knows how to bind and heal the broken heart.  Beloved, "It is well!"  Though sorrow clouds our way, 'twill only make the joy more dear that ushers in the day.  Beloved, "It is well!"  The path that Jesus trod, though rough and strait and dark it be, leads home to heaven and God.”

Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

May God be with you…Jay
