Jesus; always here...and there.

“David said about him: ‘I saw the Lord always before me.  Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.  Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay.  You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.” Acts 2:25-28

Like these children who attend the Lutheran school outside of Thomonde, Haiti we prayerfully don’t place our trust in the false wisdom of this world but wholly place it on our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We, like David, are sinful from birth but strive to place everything before Jesus each and every day.  At times the devil encourages us to feel like our Sovereign Lord has abandoned us, not listened to our prayers and closed the door between us but may His Holy Spirit illuminate that lie for what it is; a lie from the deceiver.  Our needs are met daily.  Jesus is with us daily, healing, loving, protecting and fulfilling our lives.  I am closing today with the words from the hymn ‘Jesus, when you preached’ that were written by Carl Gustav Boberg from Mönsterås, Sweden in 1885

“Jesus, when You preached, revealing what God promised to fulfill, bringing life and hope and healing to the blind, the deaf, the ill; helpless, like the rest You found me, captive in the chains that bound me.  Only You could cure my soul and make me whole.  Jesus, stop to help this beggar; open these blind eyes to see; eyes that recognize my Savior sent to heal the world and me.  Through these eyes I see the others, lost and lonely, poor and dying.  Cure the blindness of my soul and make me whole.  Jesus, tell me that God loves me, open my deaf ears to hear words of comfort and forgiveness, peace and hope and life and cheer.  Let me hear the cries of others, pleading, suffering, despairing.  Cure the deafness of my soul and make me whole.  Jesus, heal this paralytic; raise me from my helpless place; free my hands and arms for serving, legs and feet to run life’s race.  With Your Spirit’s power fill me, activate my total being.  Cure the palsy of my soul and make me whole.  Jesus, hear my pleas for mercy, You know how and You know when; only You came down from heaven, died for all and rose again.  Loose my tongue to bless and comfort, teach and pray: Your caring witness singing, “You have healed my soul and made me whole!”

Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

May God be with you…Jay
