Bit by bit...

“After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: Hallelujah!  Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are his judgments.  He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries.  He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”  And again they shouted: Hallelujah!  The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.  The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne.  And they cried: “Amen, Hallelujah!”  Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!” Revelation 19:1-3

Yesterday was Holy Trinity Sunday and in some churches it is just called Trinity Sunday; it is shorter and easier to say.  We generally profess our faith through the words of the Athanasian Creed once a year on Holy Trinity Sunday; if we have enough time and can fit that into our hour long service.  I can share with you that the priest from this vodou temple outside of Pont Sonde doesn’t commemorate Holy Trinity Sunday and would prefer that it was just changed to ‘Trinity’ Sunday and actually ‘Dual’ would be even more technically appropriate for him and his followers since satan defeated Christ on Good Friday.  Bit by bit the Biblical truths we have learned are shortened and made easier to better fit these ‘times’.  May we ‘bit by bit’ draw even closer to instead of farther away from our Triune God who is all that we have to turn to, lean on and dwell with daily.  May your week be filled with thoughts and praise to our Triune God.  I am closing today with the words from the hymn ‘Glory be to God the Father’ that were written by Horatius Bonar in 1866.

“Glory be to God the Father, glory be to God the Son, glory be to God the Spirit: Great Jehovah, Three in One!  Glory, glory, while eternal ages run!  Glory be to Him who loved us, washed us from each spot and stain; glory be to Him who bought us, made us kings with Him to reign!  Glory, glory, to the Lamb that once was slain!  Glory to the King of angels, glory to the Church's King, glory to the King of nations; Heaven and earth, your praises bring!  Glory, glory, to the King of Glory sing!  Glory, blessing, praise eternal!  Thus the choir of angels sings; honor, riches, power, dominion!  Thus its praise creation brings.  Glory, glory, glory to the King of kings!”

Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

May God be with you…Jay
