Make the most of every opportunity.

“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.  Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:5-6

The above verses are so important to how you conduct your business today and this weekend.  The part of verse 4 where Paul says “make the most of every opportunity” would make a great refrigerator magnet or perhaps your next tattoo.  Making the most of every opportunity with the lessons you have already learned and the time you have left are a win win for our Triune God.  I count thirteen children in this doorway at Bon Berger Lutherienne in Caredeux, Haiti and they are primed to leave school on this day ready to bring their reason for Hope to their neighborhood.  They have been fed Spiritually and nutritionally and it appears have been practicing their smiles as that is what will lower the walls of the stiffest competition they will face; a vodou follower.  Make the most of every opportunity.  Lunch for these thirteen children is $3.25 today and that is where you have an chance to make the most of every opportunity while helping them to share the reason of their Hope; Jesus Christ is Risen!  I am closing today with the words from the hymn ‘My Hope is built on Nothing Less’ that were written by Edward Mote in 1834.

“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name.  On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand.  When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; in every high and stormy gale my anchor holds within the veil.  On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand.  His oath, His covenant, and blood support me in the whelming flood; when every earthly prop gives way, He then is all my Hope and Stay.  On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand.  When He shall come with trumpet sound, oh, may I then in Him be found, clothed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne!  On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand.”

Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

May God be with you,

Jay
