School Module

Reading, Writing and Arithmatic

School is very different in Haiti. School buildings may be made of scrap wood or have roofs made out of sheet metal. Some schools use the Church building for classes, others use tarps and tents to make their school. Most schools do not have a playground but if they do, it's usually very small...but still a lot of fun.

Overview

We have provided two three minute overview videos for you to introduce TrinityHOPE and the children in Haiti to your VBS participants.  The videos will work well during your Kick-off Event with the parents and/or during your first day of Opening/Closing portions of VBS.  We have also provided five more videos that are broken into modules.  These can be played daily or during Mission Time during VBS rotation.  Each day we use the same theme verse for Mission Time.

Theme Verse:  Matthew 25:35,40 – “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.  I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink…’  ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

What does it mean to be hungry?

Asks the kids what are their favorite foods? Jelly beans, Ice Cream, Potato Chips or maybe Pizza. Some common foods in Haiti include Rice with a sauce, Spaghetti with ketchup, Plantains most often fried in oil, fresh Mangos and Coconut water. Have you ever said "I'm really hungry."
