In an effort to continually improve our operations and help our people grow and develop we are constantly training in a variety of ways. One of those is a two year management and life skills course we offer our most promising feeding program directors by email. The sessions include mathematics, negotiating, administration, communication, management skills, and Christian lifestyles.

One of my favorite jobs is sorting through the various things that we get from the children in Haiti. They send home-made cards, hand-drawn pictures, letters in Creole that our directors or the Pastors in Haiti have translated and we get photographs that our manager/supervisor takes. All this goes to each school’s sponsor in a personal booklet or poster.

Our seven Thanksgiving Night in the Hunger Fight Events went very well. The final numbers are not yet in but the estimate is that they generated about $45,000 at the events themselves. In addition we will have the Haiti Ham Sales and some Thrivent Supplement for the events, sales and our collection/appeals response.

At our training workshop in Haiti in August 2010, the Feeding Program Directors were asked to respond to several questions. Those questions were: 1) How Trinity/HOPE’s actions are a Christian witness. 2) What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment this past school year? 3) What has worked well for you?

Trinity/HOPE's Executive Director, John Hall, spoke to the approximately four hundred delegates at the Sierra Thrivent For Lutherans' Field Conference in San Francisco 8th. It was the third of these annual conferences which designated Trinity/HOPE as their conference charity this year. To date the attendees have given $69,240 and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match dollar for dollar. These funds will be used to feed the children in three schools for the next three years.
